    FAQs

Impact drivers provide both the rotational force that you get with a drill plus impact for greater efficiency in driving screws and nuts. They are great for more safely and quickly driving in fasteners into tougher base materials such as steel, wood, masonry and concrete.

The main difference between a drill driver and an impact driver is the power and rotational action you get with an impact driver. Impact drivers produce a lot of rotational force and more torque than drills, and are better for driving screws, whereas drills are better suited to drilling holes.

In addition, impact drivers are usually smaller and lighter than drills, making it more comfortable to use them for longer periods of time, and in tight spaces.

For replacing drill drivers on multifamily construction crews, the Hilti SID 6-22 cordless impact driver is designed for high-volume fastening across framing, MEP, drywall, and finish work. For crews regularly driving larger structural fasteners, the Hilti SID 8-22 impact driver provides additional torque for heavy-duty applications.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 6-22 delivers high-speed fastening for everyday construction tasks.

    • SID 8-22 provides additional power for larger structural fasteners.

    • Both operate on the Nuron battery platform.

    • Brushless motors help support all-day productivity.

For crews moving to a single battery platform, the Hilti SID 4-22, SID 6-22, and SID 8-22 cordless impact drivers all operate on the Nuron battery platform, allowing crews to choose the right fastening performance while using the same batteries and chargers across compatible tools.

    Why it's recommended:

    • Shared Nuron batteries simplify fleet management.

    • Multiple performance levels fit different fastening applications.

    • Compatible chargers help reduce equipment on the jobsite.

    • Cordless platform supports a wide range of construction trades.

For electricians, the SID 4-22 offers power with a lighter weight. For framing crews, the Hilti SID 6-22 cordless impact driver is well suited for general framing and connector installation, while the SID 8-22 impact driver is designed for driving larger structural screws and timber fasteners.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 4-22 balances power and weight.

    • SID 6-22 balances speed and versatility.

    • SID 8-22 delivers maximum torque for structural fastening.

    • Both feature brushless motors for demanding jobsites.

    Nuron batteries provide cordless mobility.

For installing concrete screw anchors into pre-drilled holes, the Hilti SID 4-22 provides lightweight handling for overhead and service work, while the SID 6-22 is designed for higher-volume concrete screw installation on commercial jobsites.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 4-22 helps reduce fatigue during overhead fastening.

    • SID 6-22 supports repetitive anchor installation.

    • Both feature 1/4" hex chucks for common concrete screw bits.

    • Nuron batteries help maximize cordless productivity.

For driving long self-tapping screws, the Hilti SID 6-22 delivers fast installation for most commercial applications, while the SID 8-22 is better suited for larger-diameter fasteners and more demanding structural fastening.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 6-22 offers an excellent balance of speed and power.

    • SID 8-22 provides maximum torque for heavy-duty fastening.

    • Brushless motors help maintain consistent performance.

    • Nuron platform supports all-day cordless work.

For overhead anchor and screw installation, the Hilti SID 4-22 cordless impact driver is optimized for lightweight handling in confined spaces. Where additional fastening power is needed without sacrificing maneuverability, the SID 6-22 is also a strong choice.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 4-22 minimizes fatigue during overhead work.

    • SID 6-22 adds power for more demanding fastening.

    • Compact designs improve access in tight areas.

    • LED lighting improves visibility in dim workspaces.

For users upgrading from a drill driver, the Hilti SID 6-22 is designed for everyday professional fastening across wood, metal, and concrete screw applications. If your work frequently involves larger structural fasteners, the SID 8-22 provides additional driving power.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 6-22 covers most daily fastening applications.

    • SID 8-22 is designed for heavy-duty fastening.

    • Both help improve productivity over drill drivers.

    • Nuron batteries provide platform-wide compatibility.

For commercial steel stud framing, the Hilti SID 4-22 is ideal for overhead and finish fastening, while the SID 6-22 is designed for repetitive self-drilling and self-tapping screw installation throughout commercial framing projects.

    • SID 6-22 supports high-volume steel stud fastening.

    • Brushless motors help maximize reliability.

    • Nuron platform simplifies cordless tool management.

For driving self-tapping screws into steel, the Hilti SID 6-22 is designed for high-volume fastening in light- to medium-gauge steel. For larger self-tapping fasteners used in heavier steel construction, the SID 8-22 provides additional torque.

    Why it's recommended:

    • SID 6-22 offers fast, efficient steel fastening.

    • SID 8-22 is designed for heavier fastening applications.

    • Both feature impact mechanisms that help maintain driving performance.

    • Nuron battery platform supports demanding commercial jobsites.

(1)This 20-2-1 Warranty modifies only the “WARRANTY” provision of Hilti’s General Terms & Conditions of Sale for Hilti-brand tools, replacing the standard 12-month product warranty. All other Terms and Conditions, including the service warranty, exclusions, disclaimers of implied warranties, and limitations of liability, remain unchanged. This is a professional warranty for tools sold for commercial and professional use and does not create additional consumer rights. Coverage applies only to Hilti-branded tool bodies and excludes batteries, chargers, components, accessories, and consumables. Customers’ statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

    (2) Exclusions apply. Products excluded from the 20-year coverage are covered only under the warranty stated in the General Terms and Conditions of Sale. Excluded products include: [grinders, SD screwdrivers, gas saws, WSR corded tools, UD/UH tools, certain hydraulic and powder actuated components, batteries, and combo kit accessories].

    (3) Wear and tear coverage excludes damage due to abuse or use outside the operator’s manual. The following consumable items are excluded and are the customer’s responsibility: pistons, buffers, and spring clips for powder-actuated tools; pull-cord assemblies and filters for gas saws; filters for vacuums; and hydraulic jaws, blades, and dies for hydraulic tools. Fully excluded from wear and tear coverage: grinders, SD 4500, SD 2500, gas saws, WSR corded tools, and UD and UH tools. Covered for one (1) year only: DX 860 and DX 9. (4) The one-day repair turnaround begins when the tool is received at a Hilti Tool Service Center (TSC). Eligibility requires pre-approval of the Repair Cost Limit (RCL); repairs authorized below the RCL or requiring a quotation are not eligible. The program is limited to five tools per company per day per TSC and applies only to tools received through Hilti-approved carriers. Delays in payment authorization or force majeure events void the guarantee. Excluded products include total stations, optical devices, detection tools, wall saws, wire saws, and HAT 28. Out-of-warranty tools qualify only with RCL pre-approval. The one-day-or-free program may be discontinued at any time. If Hilti does not meet the turnaround requirement, the customer’s exclusive remedy is a free repair, including parts, labor, and shipping. Hilti is not liable for damages or losses caused by late delivery.
