Edge Distance dictates Stem Wall Thickness

Edge Distance dictates Stem Wall Thickness

Regardless of the loading, anchor bolt type or base plate size and thickness,
the minimum edge distance to face of stem wall controls my design.
Min Edge Distance and spacing between anchor bolts dictates the concrete wall thickness.
for any 1/2 diameter A.B. min edge distance and min spacing is 4".
This makes 12" wide concrete stem wall requirement for two anchors.
Is there any solution for 8" thick stem walls with 2 A.B. positioned in straight row line?

Hello,

The minimum edge distance and anchor spacing requirements listed for each anchor is critical to adhere to each anchor’s testing and approvals. Generally, failure to meet these requirements may result in splitting of the concrete among other failure modes.

One option you may want to consider to try different anchoring patterns could be Hilti’s PROFIS Engineering Suite. For design help, many engineers consider using Hilti's PROFIS Engineering Suite software to perform calculations based on the specific conditions of the project. I did not get an answer, except general statement about using software and how critical is edge distance. My question was about this: for 1/2 diameter post-installed anchor with minimum edge distance and spacing between anchors regardless of load, the minimum concrete stem wall thickness needs to be 11 inches. How we can deal with 6 inch concrete stem walls? We can NOT use 1/2 inch diameter A.B. in pairs across 12 inch width of stem wall. Also we can use only one 3/8 inch diameter A.B. in the center of 6 inch stem wall. Is that the only solution? There is no choice except to have 11 inch wall with two 1/2 inch A.B. across OR have 6 inch stem wall with one 3/8 inch A.B.? Please answer my question, the case with no limit to edge distance is not applicable, also the layout for multiple A.B. and base plate - all does not matter, my question is only about limits imposed by the min edge distance and min spacing for A.B. One bolt or Two makes a difference for how thick stem wall must be.
