Behind every rainscreen façade, decisions about brackets, rails, and connections influence far more than structural support: they shape heat flow, installation, and the ability to deliver the façade as designed. This opening session introduces the Performance Knot, a framework for harmonizing structural performance, thermal performance, and constructability so that a decision made for one requirement does not undermine another. Through practical examples, participants will explore how fragmented responsibilities, incomplete specifications, and substitutions can create a gap between the façade envisioned by the design team and the assembly ultimately installed.
