I am looking for confirmation and or guidance related to the use of the X-U fastener to connect 3/8" steel plate (A36) to steel flanges ranging from .5"-.8" (A992). I have typically only used these from cold formed to steel and wanted to make sure that the values provided are still applicable for thicker steel to steel connections.

Section 3.2.2.5 in Hilti’s Direct Fastening Technical Guide recommends up to 1/8” steel when attaching to other steel members. Anything thicker will likely require pre-drilling. Hilti won’t have any published pullover/shear bearing load capacities for thicker than 14-gauge steel thicknesses, so this will have to be evaluated separately.
