If it is an interior environment, generally the answer is no it is not necessary as it is a very mild environment. However the the exterior environments, you will usually have to have some sort of corrosion protection. Regarding to if cementitious spray provide any corrosion protection. That that depends on the product and the environment. Some products will by their very nature help prevent corrosion, providing a physical barrier.
