Who specify steel protection fire rating?
Does an architect / engineer specify the fire hourly rating, and then hilti provideds the required recommendations for mil thickness? Does hilti evaluate the steel members, and provide recommendations?

Hello Jazzef, thank you for utilizing ASK Hilti! The architect will determine the hourly rating for the steel members in a building based upon the IBC 2015 which starts in Chapter 3. Once the hourly rating is determined, the contractor would provide those steel member sizes along with the hourly rating to Hilti Steel Protection Engineering Team for recommendations based upon UL 263 listings.
