I detailed some #4 x 10" long bars to be epoxied in pre drilled 5/8" DIA x 10 1/2" holes. When the work was preformed there were some holes that were made to be 12" long, and some holed that ended up being slightly larger than 5/8" DIA due to some rebar interferes. I tend to see the minimum hole length and diameters in the literature, but is there anything that says what a maximum might be?
Hi McKenzie,
Maximum tested embedment depths and proper hole sizes for HIT-HY 200 V3 with rebar per Chapter 17 of ACI 318 can be found on page 45 of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide. If designing per Chapter 25, technical data can be found beginning on page 89 of the technical guide. Ultimately, any installations that fall outside of Hilti's supportive testing will require the use of engineering judgement to evaluate anchor performance.
