What is the factor of safety used on Hilti PROFIS Engineering

The company I work for builds gantries & not all of them are free standing & we often have large cantilevered loads. It's important that we have a solid understanding of safety factors.

Hi Jim,

PROFIS Engineering does not allow for designs using Allowable Stress Design (ASD) in the Anchoring-to-Concrete module, so a factor of safety is not applicable. Instead, the software gives results in terms of utilization of the anchor/connection in tension, shear, and combined failure modes related to Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD).

For additional assistance, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com or give us a call at 877-749-6337.

Regards,
Matthew
