What is the appropriate project type for a concrete retrofit using Adhesive Anchors?

Hello,

I am designing the retrofit of a concrete cantilever beam where #6 rebars will be post-installed in an existing structure using adhesive anchors, then new concrete will be cast onto the rebars. The new concrete will experience gravity loads, a minor tensile force (which can be reasonably neglected), a bending moment induced by the gravity loads, an out of plane bending moment, and a torsional moment induced by the gravity loads. What is the best anchor type to use in Hilti PROFIS Engineering for this? I haven't used PROFIS in awhile - there is a new (for me) concrete-to-concrete connection type which is great, but it doesn't let me input the out-of-plane bending moment or the torsional moment.

Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,

The module within PROFIS Engineering that will be used will be determined by which design methodology you are using for the application. If you will be designing the application using anchor theory, you will use the anchoring-to-concrete module. If you will be designing the application using rebar development theory, you will use the concrete-to-concrete module.

If you would like to discuss your application further, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com or give us a call at 877-749-6337.

Regards,
Ashley
