We are adding a new steel lintel on a 3 hour fire rated concrete block wall above a door opening. Although it's installed on the surface of the block, my understand is the lintel needs to have the same protection as the barrier. The lintel is to be installed on an existing concrete block wall using channels installed on the exterior surface of the block wall (see attached sketch). Is there any UL design using the hilti intumescent steel protection? Would an EJ be required for such an application?
