ESR-3814 states that ASTM A193 Grade B8M (AISI 316) is to be used with HIS-RN, with a minimum specified ultimate strength of 110,000 psi. It appears there is a A193 B8M Class 1 with a tensile strength of 75 ksi, and a A193 B8M Class 2 with a tensile strength of up to 110 ksi, depending on diameter. Since it is not specified within the ESR, does the bolt used with HIS-RN *need* to be Class 2? If the steel strength permits it, may a class 1 bolt be used with the HIS-RN anchor?

Only bolts that meet the specifications listed in Table 5 of ESR-3814 may be used with the HIS-RN. If a given Class 1 bolt does not meet the specified strength requirements, then a Class 2 bolt may be required.
