wedge force direction

wedge force direction

What is the best way to confirm the direction the wedge force is applied? For example, attaching a base plate to the top of an 8 wide wall. We want the wedge force to be applied in the longitudinal direction of the wall and not towards the 4 inch edge distance

Hi Mike,

The forces that the wedges will apply is based on the diameter of the anchor and the cone of influence. PROFIS Engineering is an excellent tool to determine if a specific anchor will work for your application. Additionally, if you are concerned about the forces of the wedges for an expansion anchor, you could consider a screw anchor. Technical information on Hilti’s Anchors can be found in the Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide.

Regards,
Ashley
