I am working on a project where we are fabricating and installing bollards on a concrete slab. We have proposed using an expansion anchor or an epoxy anchor, however the plans call for anchor bolts cast in the slab ahead of installation. We would like to know if there can be some calculation that shows a different type anchor can be used in lieu of the anchor bolts. I have attached the sheet from the project drawings, as well as our shop drawing showing the proposed alternate anchor. can you please let me know if there is a way to show that an alternate anchor will meet the specs.

Hilti offers a free anchor design software called PROFIS Engineering, which allows users to compare different anchors including cast-in anchors. You can find more information about PROFIS Engineering and register for an account here. Ultimately, it will be up to the engineer of record on the project to verify the proposed anchors meet the original design specifications.
