Steel L bracket fixing to Bottom Chord of Trusses

Hello there,
Simple question. I have a scenario where steel L brackets are to be secured to the bottom chords of steel trusses. Which powder-actuated fastener should I be evaluating? The L brackets will likely be 4-6mm thick. The chords of the trusses are PFC steel members with flanges around 12mm thick.

Hi Hishaam,

For powder-actuated fastener selection help, please see pages 26-29 of Hilti’s Direct Fastening Product Technical Guide for all available powder-actuated fasteners and their suitability for steel base materials. The X-U Fastener is commonly used for attachment into steel base materials; however, this will have to be further evaluated by the Engineer of Record on the project.

If you have any further questions, please reach out to our technical services team at deck@hilti.com.

Best,
Mia
