Shear Calculation

Shear Calculation

For a simple 4 anchor layout, edge distance ca1=8", all others "Infinity" , s1 = 6", s = 8". The Avo and Avco are calculated using only the front two anchors, which is fine, but then compares the allowable shear to the total shear. Based on ACI 318-19 fig R17.7.2.1b, if "s" is equal to or greater than the edge distance "ca1", the shear valve can be divided between the front and back anchors. Seems like the correct check would be the full shear using the back anchors to determine Avo and Avco or half the shear using the front anchors to determine Avo and Avco and comparing to the half the shear load.
