Sealant for a fire-rated roll-up door mounted on a fire-rated wall

I am working on a project under construction where there is a fire-rated roll-up door face mounted to a 1-hour fire-rated gypsum wall assembly. The State Fire Marshal deputy wants to see an Engineering Judgement for the fire-rated wall where the opening of the wall meets the fire roll-up door hood. Because this condition is neither a typical firestop nor a penetration, I'm having trouble with filling out the EJ online.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Hilti Fire Protection Design Team to assist you with your firestop engineering needs.

We do not have a listed system for a roll-up door; however, we can address your application through an Engineering Judgment, which will be a custom detail showing your exact application with the firestop components required to maintain the stated ratings.

Hilti is proud to announce the launch of our engineering website, the HILTI CONSTRUCTION PLATFORM (HCP). This platform will be the home for all of your Fire Protection Engineering needs, including Engineering Judgment requests. You can find more information on how to access this new platform here: https://www.hilti.com/ej (US) or https://www.hilti.ca/ej (Canada.)

If you have any questions, please reach out to our customer service team at 1-800-879-8000 (US) or 1-800-363-4458 (Canada) for assistance.

Thank you,

Zach Rezazadeh

Hi Zach, on the EJ form it asks if the application is a joint or penetration. Based on the drawing attached in the intial post, what would you suggest the application is? And if it is a penetration, what would the type and category fall under? Thanks
