Existing 2-hr rated concrete slab (no metal deck). 18"x4" penetration that needs to be sealed but only have access from the top. Is there a system that using fire bricks to seal the opening? Need something to seal with top access only.
Greetings Bill. Thank you for checking out ASK HILTI! The most commonly used firestop system for the application you describe in you inquiry is CAJ8207. Hilti CFS-BL Firestop Blocks can be installed from the top side of the concrete floor and centered within the opening.
If CAJ 8207 does not meet your application needs, we can create a EJ for you.
An Engineering Judgment will be a custom detail showing your exact application with the firestop components required to maintain the stated ratings.
