I was of the opinion that Post-installed adhesive anchors are provided with screen tubes to prevent concrete from spalling in concrete bases and to hold the adhesive in place for hollow masonry applications. Is there a need for it in Precast wall applications? Is there a requirement that precast paneled wall needs to be insulated for screen tubes to be provided? Is there a relationship between screen tubes and insulation requirements of the base material?
P.S. In addition to the topic above, I would also like to know if the connection / anchorage strength change based on the provision of screen tubes? If so, does Hilti Profis have the ability to check the capacity with or without screen tubes?
Hi Nik,
HIT-SC screen tubes are required to be used with HIT-HY 270 per page 10 of the Hollow Core Concrete Panel Technical Guide. There is no testing or data for using HIT-HY 270 into hollow core concrete panels without a screen.
