I have some equipment anchored with HK-EZ anchors (3/8 and 1/2") and need to remove the anchors to allow lifting and replacing the equipment. Can I reinstall the anchors in the existing holes? Any other steps I need to take?

It is not recommended to reinstall previously used or new anchors into a previously used hole. The existing hole has already been compromised since the threads of the screw anchor have already keyed into the concrete and reinstalling the screw anchor will result in reduced capacities. Additionally, there may be extra damage to the concrete caused by the removal of the screw anchor. In order to use the same anchor location, we have seen engineers core drill out existing anchors then using the new core drilled hole, install a larger diameter mechanical anchor or an adhesive anchor.
Ultimately, all design decisions are up to the engineer of record.
