Recommendation for Stainless Steel or Galvanized Anchor Bolts in Underground Tunnel Project
I am seeking advice on whether stainless steel or galvanized anchor bolts must be used for an underground tunnel project. Could you please provide a recommendation and, if possible, references to support your advice?

Hi Haka,
Environmental conditions will play a role in determine which anchor material is most appropriate. Generally, zinc-coated carbon steel anchors are limited to dry, interior locations. On the other hand, hot-dipped galvanized or stainless-steel anchors are generally permitted in exterior or damp environments.
Ultimately, it will fall to engineering judgement to determine which material is best for your application. For additional corrosion considerations, please see Hilti's Corrosion Handbook.
Regards,
Matthew
