The RE 500 V3 ESR says the maximum long term temperature for this epoxy is 110 F. We had some anchors installed using this epoxy for a tank where the long term temperature at the anchors was about 95 F. The operators want to change the operating temperature of the tank which will increase the temperature at the anchors to 120 F. Do you have any information which will show how much will this decrease the epoxy bond strength?
Hi Chad,
Per ESR-3814 for HIT-RE 500 V3, the maximum long term temperature is 110 deg. Fahrenheit. The use of the adhesive at a higher temperature is outside the scope of Hilti’s testing. The decision to utilize HIT-RE 500 V3 in an environment with a higher long term temperature would up to the discretion of the Engineer of Record for the project.

Ashley
