Hello, we are currently using PROFIS Engineering to design the anchor bolts for a flare stack, but we have a few questions:
1.Circular Concrete Pedestal:
Our concrete pedestal is circular. Can PROFIS Engineering accommodate this? If so, how should we proceed? I noticed that the default concrete base materials in PROFIS Engineering are square-shaped.
2.Annular Steel Base Plate:
The steel base plate for our design is annular. Is it possible to model this in PROFIS Engineering? If so, could you provide guidance on how to set it up?
3.Steel Column with 6 ft Diameter:
To simulate the flare stack, we need a steel column with a 6 ft diameter placed on the base plate. Can this be modeled in PROFIS Engineering? If so, how can we achieve this? Currently, I can only find options for standard-diameter steel columns in the software.
4.Embedment Depth Limit:
PROFIS Engineering seems to restrict the embedment depth to a maximum of 25 in. However, according to ACI 318-19 Section 17.3.2, this limitation has been removed. Is there a way to account for this in PROFIS Engineering? If so, how can we implement it?

Hi Jian,
PROFIS Engineering Anchoring to Concrete does not currently allow for circular base material modeling as ACI 318-19 is based on orthogonal structures. Engineers may consider the generally more conservative approach to evaluate a round concrete structure by modeling anchor capacity based on the size of a square that would fit within the outside diameter of the intended circle.
PROFIS Engineering is currently unable to model the baseplate as annular.
Custom profiles are an option. This can be done by, within your design file, going to the Profiles tab > Use Profile > Select a general shape > Click the default dimension > Custom.
