Protecting Anchor Rods and Hardware from Adhesive

I am helping provide some guidance on an adhesive anchor installation procedure and am running into some questions/concerns. Our installation condition involves a baseplate being set on a foundation, holes being drilled into the concrete through existing baseplate holes, and then adhesive anchors being installed. My concern is that the adhesive material will be pushed up through the baseplate hole as the anchors are installed, and that this material will prevent the proper installation of washers and nuts on top of the baseplate. What is the proper procedure to prevent this issue from occurring?

Hi Ethan,

To ensure that the adhesive does not overflow, be sure to follow the instructions for use for the specific adhesive. Here is the instructions for use for HIT-HY 200 V3. Note: the amount of adhesive needed to fill holes is dependent on installation orientation, but most require the holes to be 2/3 filled.

Regards,
Emily
