Profis Tool: Masonry anchors, edge gap for bond beam

In Profis, designing anchor to masonry, we can set base material to "grout-filled CMU". Often times, we are attaching to a bond beam (grout filled layer of 8" height in the middle of a wall that generally has some other level of grout, e.g. at 24" OC: so every 3rd core filled). But many of the anchor options require edge distance of >4". So is the implication that these anchors are no good for bond beam application? Or does the ungrouted CMU wall above and below the bond beam count towards the edge distance? If so, what is the edge distance for the anchor within the bond beam itself? Thanks for any insight.

Hi Douglas,

Since there are no testing for partially grouted walls, it will be an engineering judgement. Engineers will typically use the values for hollow to be conservative. On site evaluation may also beneficial in scenarios outside the tested values.
