Profis rigid base plate check

Profis rigid base plate check

Hello. I am trying to gain a better understanding of how the profis rigid base plate check works. I have a situation where a .75" thick plate results in 261 lbs. in the anchor, and a percent increase of 26,200%, which of course triggers a warning if I try to proceed from there. If I try a .875" thick plate, the result is 164 lbs. in the anchor (this would be 16,400%), but the percent is not reported, and no warning is issued if I proceed form there. In both cases, the strain is 0 and the deformation is .004". Why is 26,200% enough to trigger a warning, but not 16,400%? Thank you.

Hi Thomas,

For information on base plate design within PROFIS Engineering, please refer to this how-to video on Ask Hilti and in the PROFIS Engineering Design Guide. Additionally, information on rigid and non-rigid baseplate assumptions can be found in this Structures Magazine article.
