Precast Veneer Attachment

Precast Veneer Attachment

I have a precast concrete veneer that is 3" thick being attached through the panel to an existing 12" concrete wall. Between the wall and the precast panel, grout may or not be present. Is it safe to assume I can use the following anchor with a screen tube into the 12" concrete wall: Hilti HIT-V threaded rod with HIT-HY 270 injection mortar and 2 HIT-SC 16x85 + HIT-SC 16x85 sieve sleeve(s) with 6 in embedment hef, 3/8, Steel galvanized, Rotary drilled installation per Technical data

Another option may be to use a threaded insert into the 12" wall and post install a second anchor.

Both options need to have an ESR approved for use in California.

Thanks,

Hi Eric,

HIT-HY 270 has testing and approvals for masonry base materials only. This testing can be found in Section 3.2.4 in Hilti's Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide. For anchorages into concrete, engineers typically consider the HIT-HY 200 V3 or the HIT-RE 500 V3. Technical information on the HIT-HY 200 V3 can be found in Section 3.2.2 and Section 3.2.3 of Hilti's Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide. Both of these anchors have approvals for the LA Building Code that can be found within their respective ESR's.

If you would like to discuss your application further, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Regards,
Ashley
