I’m working on a gymnasium project for Catholic University. There’s an existing 2hr rated CMU wall. We removed an existing louver in the 2hr wall to run new piping through. Now we’re looking to fill in the void.

The suggested and typically preferred firestop product for an opening size that large with pretty significant annular space would be Hilti CFS-BL Firestop Blocks. We have a system, C-AJ-8207, designed for large openings (attached for your reference), but your opening actually exceeds this system. As such, we can address your application through an Engineering Judgment, which will be a custom detail showing your exact application with the firestop components required to maintain the stated ratings.
