I have several 16" x 16" openings in a 7" thick masonry firewall. I'd like to place steel plates on both sides of the wall over these openings and fill the void between the two steel plates with a Fire Stop product. What product would be recommended for this application?

There are a couple of things we need to know before we can recommend a system. We'll need to know what rating you are looking for, and what gauge these plates are. Depending on your preferred solution we may be able to provide an Engineering Judgement to help accommodate your condition. I've attached details on how to submit for an Engineering Judgement below and have also attached some systems for you to look at that may be good enough for you to use. They include foam, mortar, fire blocks, and mineral wool with sealant. If they don't work, feel free follow the instructions below to submit for an EJ request.
