I have a situation where 3/4” diameter Kwik Bolt TZ anchors were installed into a CMU (for a particular connection). The spacing of the anchors is 5”. Table 45 and 46 show that the minimum required spacing between the anchors is 6” to be able to use the load/capacity tables. Since the installed anchor spacing of 5” does not meet the requirement of 6”, would it be acceptable and conservative to use table values/capacities for a 5/8” diameter Kwik Bolt TZ anchor (since the minimum bolt spacing requirement is 5”). Thank you for your help.
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, Hilti does not have testing for spacing less than the minimum requirements. The engineer on the project would need to consider using engineering judgment or on-site evaluation to account for potential variability in performance.
