Mechanical Screw anchors W/ epoxy

Currently a client came back to me with a condition on site, original drawings specified hilti HY 500 + Has threaded rods, during installation the GC mixed some of the details and installed mechanical screw anchors (Heavy Duty Tapcon) with the epoxy, they are going to replace the connection and re-install with threaded rod + epoxy. But I was curious about what would happen if say someone installed Hilti KH-EZ with an epoxy, both of the systems have different capacities, edge distances, spacings and everything is different, but if I do 2 separate analysis one with KH-EZ and one with epoxy anchors with the exact same edge distances, spacings and loadings and both of them work, would it be safe to say it works? or are the systems directly incompatible for some reason?

Hilti Verified

Hi Fernando,

A KH-EZ installed with HIT-RE 500 V3 is outside the scope of Hilti's testing, so it would ultimately fall to engineering judgement to determine anchor performance. On-site testing would be recommended.

If you would like to use a screw anchor with adhesive, you may consider using Kwik-X, which is comprised of the KH-EZ and the KHC adhesive capsule. More technical information may be found in the Kwik-X Technical Supplement or ESR-5065.

Regards,
Matthew
