Mechanical Anchor Installation Torque Reduction

Mechanical Anchor Installation Torque Reduction

Where Mechanical equipment is anchored to slab on grade one of our vendors calls out Hilti KB-TZ2 Wedge anchors to be installed to support the equipment. The support foot provided by equipment vendor is an isolation pad made of hard plastic and rubber. When installed per ESR-4266 the amount of torque required for the anchor is deforming and breaking the support feet. Would it be possible to reduce the amount of installation torque? Could we apply a reduction factor for reducing the installation torque that we could apply to the capacity calculations?

Hi Kyle,

The installation of the KB-TZ2 in the Instructions for Use must be followed to ensure that the anchor is properly installed. This includes applying the specified installation torque. For information on how installation torque can affect expansion anchors, please refer to this Structures Magazine article.
