Looking down at an installed wedge anchor, how do I delineate a KB TZ2 from other Hilti Wedge Anchors (KB3). I know TZ2 has upper case letters designating depth, and KB1 have lower case letters indicating depth. Are those the only wedge anchors that have those designations? or could they be confused with other anchors?
Hi Stuart,
All of Hilti's KWIK Bolts (past and present) will have either uppercase or lowercase letters designating length of the anchor. There should be additional notches in the head of the anchor to differentiate between the different versions. For example, the KB-TZ 2 carbon steel anchor has an uppercase letter with a single notch at the top of the letter and the KB1 has a lower case letter with a single notch at the top. Please keep in mind this is more so to determine the length of the anchor installed for inspection purposes, and less to determine what type of anchor was installed. It is difficult to tell from the picture what the anchor may be due to what appears to be damage on the head of the anchor. For more information on older anchors, please reach out to Hilti's Engineering Team at hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com and they will be able to provide old technical information.
Regards,
Dani
