Load reduction factors for HIT-HY 270 anchors in the face of CMU

Load reduction factors for HIT-HY 270 anchors in the face of CMU

I am checking a design for anchorage to a CMU wall in Hilti Profis. See attached Profis report and Page from the Hilti Technical guide with markups. It appears that load reduction factors are being applied for both spacing and edge distance when only the spacing factor should apply. This connection is farther than 20" from the edge of the wall so the edge distance load reduction factor should not apply, correct? Or am I misunderstanding the output? Could you please clarify how the f(red,S,II) factor on page 5 of the attached report is being calculated?

Hi Mike,

Load reduction factors are multiplicative in the masonry module of PROFIS Engineering when designing under ASD. For instance, if an anchor is next to two other anchors, two spacing reduction factors may need to be applied. Additionally, linear interpolation of load values between minimum spacing and critical spacing is permitted.

For further information regarding your specific design, please email your ".pe" file and report to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Regards,
Ashley
