When checking and anchor with shear loads in both the x & y direction. I think, Profis calculates the minimum capacity in either direction then compares this to resultant load of Vx & Vy.
For example, say Vxu=1000lbs is perpendicular to the edge & Vyu =800lbs parallel to the edge.
Say the capacity in the x direction is 1200 lbs and the capacity in the y direction is 2(1200lbs)=2400lbs
It appears that profis will compare the result of the (1000lbs &800lbs) or 1288lbs to the 1200lbs capacity and the condition is no good.
Am I understanding this correctly? Is there a published reference to backup this procedure? I’m not saying it wrong
Hi William,
Please see this previous Ask Hilti response. Specific calculations for your project can be found in the report for your design. The report includes equations, variables, and calculations for tension and shear capacities and utilizations. To generate a PDF report, click "Create Report" in the upper right hand corner of the PROFIS Engineering webpage. For further information on the software’s functions and its calculations, see the PROFIS Engineering Design Guide.
