I am looking at a condition where we have an HSS column bearing on a CMU wall. I am looking at the anchor options for this design and am getting an error for the KWIK HUS and others saying that the minimum end distance from the anchor to wall end is 8 in but in the Hilti Product Guide (volume 2), Table 15 gives a minimum end distance of 4 in or 5 in. For my design, the bolt would be 5.5 in from the end of the CMU. Could you give me some input on which value of end distance to reference?
Hi Rebekah, Are you designing PROFIS Engineering? If so, the KH-EZ is the anchor that is available for design. Information on the minimum edge distance requirements can be found in Table 32 of Hilti's Anchor Fastening Product Technical Guide. Additionally, Figure 6 (see attached) offers a helpful visual of permissible locations within the top of a grout-filled CMU block that the anchor can be installed into. If you have further questions, please email your ".pe" file to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com. Regards, Ashley
