Kwik Bolt TZ embedment lengths

I am using a 5/8" diameter kwik bolt TZ2 x 4 3/4" long to connection a beam ledge angle to a 5" thick interior wythe of an concrete insulated wall panel. I need a 3/4" thick angle. My Hilti profis run does not allow me to input the exact hnom that I will have which would be slightly less than the 2 3/4" choice in Profis. Either way, I would need the anchor head and washer dimension to make sure I am using the correct hnom which I cannot find in the product literature. I can't use the next longest anchor in Profis (6") since it is too long for the 5" concrete thickness.

Hi Cheryl,

PROFIS Engineering uses the effective embedment depth as the basis of design. The effective embedment conveys where the loading mechanism for the anchor engages the base material and is used throughout anchor calculations. The nominal embedment is measured from the bottom of the anchor to the top of the base material. For the 5/8” diameter KB-TZ2, the effective embedment is 2-3/4” with a nominal embedment of 3-1/4”. Please see the attached image for the KB-TZ2 specifications.

For the thickness of the nut and washer, a good rule of thumb is that the combined thickness of the nut and washer is close to the diameter of the anchor. For more specific dimensions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Ashley
