KT-TZ2 Min Edge Distance / Spacing in Profis

KT-TZ2 Min Edge Distance / Spacing in Profis

ESR-4266 Table 3 lists minimum edge distances and spacing in various combinations. For a 1/2" anchor, I interpret the table to mean that for a single bolt or bolt spacing greater than 12", 8" is the minimum edge distance. And for bolt spacing greater than 5-1/4" but less than 9-1/4" the minimum edge distance is 2-3/4". Is this correct? Why does Profis require a minimum edge distance of 8" and minimum bolt spacing of 12" for any anchor configuration of the KT-TZ2?

Hi Travis,

PROFIS Engineering follows the testing data provided in ESR-4266 to preform calculations for the KB-TZ2. When determining minimum edge distance and anchors spacing requirements, there are two acceptable cases that may be followed (please see the attached table). Linear interpolation between the two cases is permitted, per the attached figure.

Matthew,

Thanks for the reply. But there are three other columns in that table with c_min going all the way down to 2-1/4"; why does profis only allow the 8/12 case?

Hi Travis,

PROFIS Engineering follows the edge distance and anchor spacing requirements of the embedment depth you are designing with.

Matthew,

Thank you; I realized yesterday that I wasn't modifying the embedment depth accordingly. So Profis was doing exactly what it was supposed to do!
