I'm working with an existing building that has a composite deck with 2 1/2" of concrete above the upper flute of a 3" steel deck. I would like to use KH-EZ screw anchors to anchor some equipment to the top of the concrete, so I am referring to ESR-3027. The applicable table would be Table 9. However, the table has a note that says "steel deck thickness must be minimum 20 gauge" and the deck on the field is 21 gauge. Does this mean it is prohibited to use KH-EZ anchors on this deck assembly? Or can they be used with some capacity adjustment? Are there any anchorage products that may be used for this application?
Hi Armando,
Per ESR-3027, the KWIK HUS-EZ only has testing into concrete over metal deck with a deck gauge of 20 ga or thicker. Installing into a concrete over metal deck with thinner gauge is out of the scope of testing. Hilti currently does not have any anchors with testing into a metal deck with 21 ga.

Emily
