We plan to use system HW-D-1069 for the joint of 1hr rated CMU firewall and non-rated metal roof deck. The firewall stops blow the roof deck. There are (2) nonrated beams along this wall which block access for firestop material at top of the wall. Here are our questions,
1- What is the minimum gap between wall and beam to ensure enough space for firestop application?
2- Is there similar system with access from 1 side only?

We do not have any listed systems for this application, as all of our UL-listed head-of-wall systems between a CMU and deck require concrete above the decking. However, we can address your application through an Engineering Judgment, which will be a custom detail showing your exact application with the firestop components required to maintain the stated ratings.
