Is there an interaction between HIT-HY 270 & Expanded Polystyrene?

We need to attach anchors to the face shell of HI-R CMU with screeds and threaded rod. The CMU has a face shell backed by 2-1/2 inches of expanded polystyrene insulation with a minimum density of 1.3 pounds per cubic foot. Would there be a reaction (melting/dissolving) of the foam insulation if HIT-HY 270 is used to epoxy anchors?

Hi William,

Hilti does not have any testing or information for HIT-HY 270 installed into the face of HI-R CMU. It would be up to the discretion of the engineer of record on the project to determine suitability for the application. They could consider engineering judgement or on-site testing to account for variability in performance.

Ashley
