Need help specifying spray on paint product to yield 1 hour protection for exterior single story exposed steel shade canopy. Type IIB unrated wide flange steel column and beam construction with metal deck roofing. Need product which will aesthetically be as thin as possible to keep the steel looking sort of like steel - Ie. crisp not blobby. Hopefully paintable.

Unfortunately, we currently do not have any testing to spray decking/canopies. We can provide a detail for the column and beams though. Hilti has 2 steel sprays - CFP-SP FF120+ Fire Finish and Hilti All Weather High Build CFP-SP AWHB. Both our Steel Protection Sprays are paintable, our Hilti All Weather High Build CFP-SP AWHB will use the least amount of material, but both should provide a clean finish (please see https://www.hilti.com/content/hilti/W1/US/en/business/business/engineering/fire-protection/intumescent-steel-protection.html). We highly recommend using a top coat to protect the IFRM as well as top coats come in different colors that may be suitable for you. I attached some systems for you, if you have conditions outside of these systems, please submit an Engineering Judgement (EJ) request and we can see what solutions we are able to provide for you.
Please be aware AWHB is a 2 part product and will need specialized training to ensure that it works as intended. FF120+ is a water based and much easier to work with but it WILL require a top coat if being used outdoors.
