Intumescent Paint - Achieving 3 Hours

Is it possible to achieve a 3hr fire rating with intumescent paint on a HSS membrane? If so what UL # can be used?

Steel beam fireproofing, light weight concrete,ANSI/UL listed, hollow steel section

Hello Mateo, thank you for your question. To determine if a 3 hour rating is possible we would need to know the HSS size. Please email usspeng@hilti.com with the steel size information to help you determine the mil thickness required for that rating. HSS members reference UL Y634 for Fire Finish 120 CFP SP WB and Y657 for All Weather High Build CFP-SP.

Thank you,

Thanks Perla, just to be clear this is a HSS Steel "tube" not "column" as inidicated in UL Y634. I will email the steel size information to the email provided!
