Intumescent Coating at Column meeting beam with SFRM above

Are there a UL listing or test performed that we can apply intumescent coating on a steel column, that is directly supporting an existing steel beam fireproofed with spray applied fire resistive material? They are not the same structural member, so I would like to know if a test has been performed or an EJ is required.

Hello Carol, the UL listing you can use for the column is UL Y633. Since you have two fireproofing martials, one on the beam and potentially Hilti intumescent on the column you can apply Hilti intumescent to the column and overlap it on to the beam and current fireproofing. For more details and testing supporting this method, please reach out to us via the Hilti Steel Protection email: usspeng@Hilti.com
