I need to attach a steel section to an unreinforced clay masonry wall to transfer loads from the existing joist to the wall . (the existing joists are embedded into the wall and are rotten). I need to attach an angle to the wall to capture the end of the joist that is not rotten. Building was built in 1917. see attached drawing. looking for a suggested anchor to attach angle setion to wall
Hi Dominique,
Hilti’s ultimate masonry adhesive anchor is the HIT-HY 270 adhesive anchor. Technical information on this adhesive can be found starting on page 33 of the Post-Installed Anchors in Masonry Technical Guide.
For all available anchor options suitable for anchoring into masonry base materials, please see the Anchor Selection Guide on pages 4-7 of the Anchor Product Technical Guide. Please note that testing has not been performed for any of Hilti’s anchor products into historic brick or older base materials and on-site evaluation of the anchor would be recommended.
Ultimately, all design decisions (including final anchor selection) are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project. If you have any further questions, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.
Best,
Mia
