HY-270 with screens vs. grouted cells

Using Profis to check anchor capacity utilizing a threaded rod into the face of grouted CMU yields a much higher capacity than using the same configuration of loads and anchors into hollow CMU with screens. Isn't the use of screens supposed to provide the same capacity for use in hollow CMU?

Hi Brian,

Thank you for reaching out. For threaded rod anchors, it is typical that PROFIS shows higher capacities in grouted CMU than in hollow CMU with screens. Screens in hollow units are not intended to “restore” hollow CMU to the same strength as fully grouted CMU; they are meant to provide a reliable way to install adhesive in a hollow unit and to mobilize as much capacity as the hollow block geometry and testing allow. These two base materials have separate testing associated with them and will have different associated data and capacities.

Regards,
Katelyn
