I am working on a repair detail for a prestressed concrete sandwich wall panel. The panel is 10" thick with one interior layer and exterior layer of concrete, both 3" thick. I would like to use HY-200 epoxy with 1/2" or 3/4" diameter threaded rod. Plan is to drill through one full face and continue 1" into the 2nd face (bolt embedded 8" into wall). I would like to use the capacity associated with 3" effective embedment (full thickness of one face) for a 1/2" anchor, completely neglecting any capacity provided by embedding into the back face. It does not appear that the associated ESR-4868 addresses this specific scenario. My engineering judgment suggests that use of 3" effective embedment in the scenario is reasonable Concrete breakout is controlling in the specific scenario. Is there a failure mode or other concern that I should be considering as I am evaluating this condition?
