Hello- HW-D-0181, Item 1 states that the steel deck/concrete floor assembly is to be constructed per D700 floor-ceiling designs in UL. However, Item 1C states the fireproofing is "optional". D700s floor decks require the bottom of the steel deck to be fireproofed. Since Item 1C states that the fireproofing is "optional", does this mean that HW-D-0181 can also be used for floor-ceiling assemblies designed per D900s (unprotected steel deck, no fireproofing)?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to the Hilti Fire Protection Design Team to assist you with your firestop engineering needs.
That specific version of the system calls out the D900 series assembly. However, please take a look at the trade version of this detail. It more generically calls out the floor assembly, so a D700 series may be appropriate for use when following this version of the detail, and the fireproofing is still optional.
Hilti is proud to announce the launch of our engineering website, the HILTI CONSTRUCTION PLATFORM (HCP). This platform will be the home for all of your Fire Protection Engineering needs, including Engineering Judgment requests. You can find more information on how to access this new platform here: https://www.hilti.com/ej (US) or https://www.hilti.ca/ej (Canada.)

Thank you. Do you mean the opposite? the specific version i attached references D700 but the trade version could apply to D900 floor-ceiling assemblies.
