HIT-HY 200 V3 Question

HIT-HY 200 V3 Question

For our project, we specified (4) ¾" diameter Hilti HIT-HY 200 adhesive anchors with 12" embedment. However, it has come to our attention that in the field, (2) Hilti adhesive anchors were installed along with (2) mechanical (screw-in) anchors in place of the specified system.
Would it be acceptable to request that the contractor remove the mechanical anchors and utilize the existing holes for properly installed Hilti adhesive anchors, would there be any tolerance issues ?

Hi Aarya,

In general, it is not recommended to reinstall an anchor in the same concrete hole a previous anchor was installed in.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss your application more in depth, please reach out to hnatechnicalservices@hilti.com.

Best,

Could add additional adhesive anchors around the mechanical anchors. Or would this not be recommended as there will be two different types of anchor systems.

Hello Aarya,

In general, mixing different anchors and types of anchors may be undesirable as each anchor may have different spacing & edge distance requirements, characteristics of load transfer, as well as testing procedures. Additionally, mechanical and adhesive anchors may have differing failure modes to be analyzed. Ultimately, anchoring decisions are at the discretion of the Engineer of Record.
