Hilti Profis Engineering questions
I have two questions:
- Can we change the embedment depth for anchors in CMU wall?
- See attached. I have HY270 threaded rod connection with four 5/8" diameter anchors. The spacing is 8" and cover is greater than 20". The tabulated value of 2840 lbs is reduced by 0.37 factor for spacing (Page 4 of 9). In the ESR it is 0.50 for minimum spacing of 4". Am I missing something. All loads are allowable long term loads.

Hi Vaibhav,
Embedment depths can only be changed within PROFIS Engineering if testing was done at multiple embedment depths. Embedment depth data for HIT-HY 270 can be found in ESR-4143.
As for the spacing reduction factor: load reduction factors are multiplicative. For instance, if an anchor is next to two other anchors, two spacing reduction factors may need to be applied. Additionally, linear interpolation of load values between minimum spacing and critical spacing is permitted.
