I have an existing 9" reinforced slab with a new 9" reinforced slab poured over top. Using Hilti HIT-RE V3 anchor bolt, is it acceptable to install anchor through joint? Due to embedment requirements of tank manufacturer, Anchor will be drilled through entire thickness of new slab and 7 inches into existing slab.

Thank you for reaching out. Hilti anchor testing is conducted in monolithic slabs only. Thus, Hilti does not have test data available for anchors installed in more than one layer of concrete. Engineering judgment could be considered if the housekeeping pad and supporting slab are sufficiently connected to act as one element.
